Simple Activities to Try at Home
Here are a few easy ways to make reading exciting for your child:
- Letter Scavenger Hunt – Hide letters around the room or yard and have your child find them, say the letter name, and make its sound.
- Reading with Puppets or Toys – Act out stories with toys or puppets to bring the book to life.
- Phonics Hopscotch – Draw letters or simple words on the sidewalk or floor. Have your child hop to the correct letter as you say a sound or word.
- Storytime with Props – Use household objects to act out parts of the story while you read.
- Alphabet Treasure Box – Fill a small box with items that start with different letters and have your child identify them while practicing sounds.
